WHO WE ARE

OUR MISSION

Springboard Danse is a not-for-profit contemporary dance organization that centers career development and cultivates connections between professional dancers, choreographers, and companies. For 22 years, Springboard was deeply rooted within the vibrant community of Montréal, and will make its United States debut in 2025. We remain committed to our dynamic ecosystem of international artists and will continue to facilitate professional connections, employment opportunities, and mentorship as we revive and relocate. Springboard believes that the future of the field is fueled by the artists themselves, and commits to supporting their success both within and beyond the existing institutional frameworks.

OUR VISION

Springboard Danse shall be internationally recognized as the leading career development and job placement resource for emerging dancers and choreographers, bringing together diverse talent in the international contemporary dance scene.

Our guiding values are integrity, creativity, equity, diversity, inclusion and mentorship.

OUR COMMITMENT TO DANCERS

Aligned with Springboard's values, we are committed to breaking down financial barriers to entry. Over the past seven years, Springboard has annually awarded $39,000 - $42,000 USD in scholarships for our flagship summer project, addressing expressed financial need. In 2020, we introduced the Springboard Fellowship Program, an extension of our Emerging Choreographers Program, offering support, residencies, financial aid, marketing assistance, and mentoring resources to BIPOC choreographers within our global network.

While we aimed to eliminate audition fees for dancers in 2022, financial challenges from the pandemic hindered our plans. Providing free auditions remains a top priority for us moving forward.

Since our inception, Springboard has evolved from a three-person to a five-person part-time grassroots team. Over our 22-year history, we have not received support from public or foundational funding bodies in the U.S. or Canada. We are actively seeking connections with new donors and foundational grants.
